Hola,
This
is Day 8 and 9th of my journey of Costa Rica.
Tammy
screaming, “Ahhhhh Snake” !!!!
“Boa”
snake found its way inside the chicken coop.
It was sitting on the
top shelf- just above where the hens were laying in the nests.
The
Boa snake was about 3 ½ to 4 feet long. Pretty, huh?
Jesus
and I were trying to pull the snake off of the top shelf.
It was
trying to get away. “Oh no! We need to get him out!”
The
snake almost got loose after we got him off of the
top shelf inside
the chicken coop. AHHH!!
We
finally got the snake out of chicken coop.
He is getting ready to put
the snake in a bag. What a relief!!
The
chickens and the turkeys are relieved that Jesus got the snake in the
bag.
They are cheering, “Yea, yea snake is gone, yea!!”
A
better idea of just how close the snake was on the top shelf next to
the brown box.
The hens were just below the top shelf in their nests.
A little too close for comfort for the hens.
Sad to say the snake did
eat 2 small white chickens that were in the chicken coop.
Beautiful
pictures of the Mountains behind the backyard.
Thursday
night we received an unusual visitor outside of the Main house. A
SKUNK!! OHHHhh Noooo!
All
the dogs got a hold of the skunk. Oohh the smell was horrific! The
smell came into the house and it was really really bad! We tried to
close all the windows and lit a candle trying to get rid of the
smell. Unfortunately the smell was the worst in my room. I was not
too happy with that. Oh well!
Exciting
day today. The snake and the skunk came to visit us. Never a dull
moment on this farm. End of day 8. Next comes Day 9 of my journey of
Costa Rica.
Day
9th Friday July 10th:
Beautiful
picture of the Mountain early Friday morning. Beautiful day.
A
view from the front porch of the Main House.
Tammy
is frustrated. The skunk smell is still here in the house this
morning.
The
candle is lit again. It did help lessen the smell.
Pretty
Rio.
Chalupa
( means “Mexican Burrito) with Rivka and Scooby.
They all reek of
skunk smell. Poor dogs, they all need a good scrubbing bath!!
Dutch
door at the bodega house. Pretty neat, huh??
Christopher
is getting ready to milk the cows.
I am
in my pj's and have nice hot tea. Don't I look cute in these PJ's??
ha ha ha
Look!
Costa Rica Coffee Maker.
This
is their soap for the dishes. No liquid soap here in Costa Rica.
Let's
talk about Bodega house. Bodega means “Storage” house.
Bodega
house here has the kitchen, laundry area and farm equipments all in
the same floor.
This one shows the counter top area for food prep.
Here
is the kitchen sink with window facing toward the Main house.
Here
is the Stove and refrigerator next to the sink. Chris is in this
picture.
Here
is the Laundry area and the farm equipment on the other side of the
room.
Christopher carries this Machete with him almost everywhere on the farm.
Look
how big the machete is!!
We
are making Empanadas for breakfast and lunch.
Ingredients
for Empanadas.
Empanadas…
Yummy!!
Buttercup,
a young calf and I meeting for the first time.
I am
cutting “lemongrass” to make a homemade tea drink called
kombucha.
This
is what inside of the chicken coop underneath of the Bodega house.
I
finally got out of my boots and am now wearing crocs.
Another
favorite type of footwear in the country. I got brave and
started
wearing short sleeve shirts and shorts from Tuesday to Friday.
Oh
yeah, I used a lot of Bug spray!! Besides it's way too hot for
the
long jeans and long sleeve shirts. Humidity is very high here!
Friday
Night at Sunset to Saturday Night at Sunset is the Sabbath day for
Tammy and her family. It is a quiet restful day on the farm during
this time.
I will give the family a respect to sit in and observed
their Sabbath.
So no blog on Saturday out of respect for Tammy and
her family on their Sabbath.
I will pick up the blog on Sunday. I am
enjoying sharing with you my journey of Costa Rica.
See ya on Sunday!
Jen
